WHAT ARE THE CHANGES SINCE YOU SUCCEEDED YOUR FATHER AT THE HEAD OF THE ESTATE?

My father acquired the property in 1963. Until the 80s and 90s, we thought that technology took precedence over raw materials. Since then, we have evolved a lot in terms of winemaking to preserve the aromatic characteristics. And from the 2000s, we began to restructure the vineyard to have higher densities, with a lower yield per vine, and thus obtain better quality grapes. Technicality has become less important compared to the quality of the raw material and the vineyard. In terms of winemaking, we are gradually moving towards more elegant wines.

WHAT ARE THE EMBLEMATIC CUVÉES OF CHÂTEAU DE LA JAUBERTIE?

We have three types of interesting terroirs: limestone, silt and boulbène. The estate's flagship vintage is the Mirabelle Cuvée a vintage red, aged in oak barrels, which was created in 1985 for a restaurant of the same name. We also have the entry-level Tradition vintage, which offers a combination of fruit and charm. The Monologue cuvée is the expression of a terroir and a grape variety, while the Brut Rosé is a perfectly balanced sparkling wine. As for the Cuvée Colombier, our premium vintage red, made from old vines from the best plot of the estate, my hope is that it becomes iconic.

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE CHÂTEAU DE LA JAUBERTIE?

Since 2021, in continuation of our initiatives to create an eco-responsible estate, we have our own bee hives and sell flower and forest honey. Furthermore, we are in the heart of the Dordogne, a magnificent region which has a lot of charm, and which receives 4 to 5 million tourists per year. Also, we want to develop wine tourism and develop a route of varied activities. Finally, the Château de la Jaubertie exhibits art each year in its exhibition room, and in the cellars or gardens, the works of photographers, painters and sculptors. Our wish is to regularly present artists, whether they are known on the local, national or international scene...according to our own favorites!
